I saw this happen while standing on the edge of a field next to the Ficktum farm in Wilber. McComas and I got about three birds each as they flew right toward us.

I also saw this happen in Hartington, NE, the morning we had nine hunters and got 27 roosters by 9am that day. According to the Nebraska Game and Parks folks, the Hartington area has more birds this year than it did 20 years ago.

JB,

What brand of Kool Aid are you drinking these days.

Your subconcious is working overtime about the number of birds there will be to shoot this year.

I only hope for the groups sake that there are just half as many as you and SP have conjured up in your Kool Aid addled minds, well, in SP's case, Scotch addled mind!

JB,

I failed to ask, where do you see anything in the uTube clip "Pheasants everywhere - south dakota hunting" that mentions Fictum's place or Hardington'?

Hmmmmm, just wondering!

HB,
You are right. It did not say Hartington or Wilbur in the video. So, Lenny is bringing a camcorder for us this time.

Like teen agers...Bubba, Scooby, Sasha, and Manny refused to believe that the pheasants in Nebraska are all gone. The dogs had a long discussion with Stan, Lenny, David and me over several cups of 90 proof Kool-aid and K-9 wine before they convinced us to at least give them the final word with one more try.

UPDATE!
According to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission this year, the possession limit for pheasants has changed from 3 per day, limit 9 per person to 3 per day, limit 12 per person. I am so happy because last year we held fast to the .025 per person limit .2 total....

c-mon HB...why so negative? NE game and parks made the statement about the most birds in 20 years. I think you should come with us to prove us wrong. We'd sure like to have you there!! You can drive and block the whole week. What do you say?

LP,

Not being negative only realistic!

If this year is the best in 20 years according to the game and parks folks, maybe THEY are drinking the Kool Aid.

I would like to come but $$$$$ aren't there for the trip this year and the body isn't willing, either! AND, with me not along that will be one less person to sleep outside in the cold!

I hope you guys do get into more birds than you have bullets for, and I don't think you should worry about videos I think you should be ready to SHOOT all the birds Scoob will be pointing, to hell with videos, wait until AFTER the birds are shot!

OK, got to finish my Samuel Adams OctoberFest beer and hook up the trailer for thge antique show tomorrow morning at 6:30AM. It's almost as bad as going pheasant hunting with your Dad.

I love the new possesion limit, just means that you can shoot more birds than you can find! KOOL AID, I'm telling you.

UPDATE.....

Today, I pulled the trailer from its protected area to determine necessary repairs. I added some pressure treated lattice to the floor of each dog box to provide an extra layer between the dog beds and the aluminum flooring of the dog box. In addition, the lattice will provide support and strength under each dog bed. Beyond that, a quick washing and some hand rubbed wax put the finishing touch on the trailer. I also added the name plates for the dogs that have earned them. There is a dog box named "Bubba" and a box named "Scooby". Two boxes remain nameless in hopes that the new dogs will step up to the task of pointing or retrieving a game bird for the team. In addition, the honorary name plates of those who helped the team in the past will be mounted in the appropriate location to honor their well-earned memories.
